The WCET™ IOG Guideline Development Panel

Emily is an Adjunct Professor at the Wound Healing and Management Collaborative, Curtin University, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care, La Trobe University and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University. She was awarded Wounds Australia Fellowship in 2021. Emily is a GRADE-certified international methodologist and ISO-trained and accreditor, with extensive expertise in developing clinical guidelines, clinical and education standards and consensus documents. Emily is also the methodologist for the the NPIAP/EPUAP/PPPIA International Pressure Injury Guideline (since 2012) and the International Wound Infection Institute. She has developed the Australian Standards for Wound Prevention and Management and the Australian Standards for Health Practitioner Pain Management Education. She leads the development of the WHAM evidence summaries, is active in primary research and his Associate Editor of the International Journal of Nursing Studies as well as sitting on several nursng and wound Editorial Boards.

Dr Emily Haesler

Elizabeth is an internationally distinguished board-certified wound and ostomy nurse, researcher, innovative educator and prolific author (over 100 peer-reviewed articles), and co-author/editor of the award-winning book Wound Care Essentials: Practice Principles.  She currently serves as Co-Editor in Chief of the journal, Advances in Skin and Wound Care and is faculty at IIWCC (Canada and UAE). Dr. Ayello is the Immediate Past President of the WCET™ and Executive Editor Emeritus for the WCET™ Journal She is a past President of the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) and a member of the Governance Group developing the fourth edition of the NPIAP/EPUAP/PPPIA International Pressure Injury Guideline. Elizabeth is the First recipient of the New York State Legislature Nurse of Distinction, International Nursing Editors (INANE) Margaret Comerford Freda Award for Editorial Leadership in Nursing Publication. She is recipient of Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing,  Life member of the WCET™ , and has received Lifetime Achievement Awards from World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) and the International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ISCURS), the NPIAP JoAnn Maklebust Award, the SAWC John Boswick Memorial Award and Lectureship and the Hall of Fame designee Hunter College, of the City University of New York.

Dr Elizabeth A. Ayello

Laurent has been a Registered Nurse since 1995 and has been working as a Nurse Specialised Wound Ostomy and Continence since 2003. He works as a clinician expert following patients in a hospital structure (Ensemble Hospitalier de la Cote, Morges) in acute, rehabilitation, palliative and long stay care; in an outpatient clinic and also home care settings, and teaches at the Health School of Sciences in Geneva.  Laurent has been involved in the WCET™ since 2004, including as the Swiss International Delegate (2009-2013), Education Committee, past Publications & Communications Committee and President (2024-2026).  Laurent has a Degree in Cellular Biology and Physiology, a Certificate on Oncology and Palliative care, a university diploma in wound healing and is a peer reviewer and Editorial Board member on several wound and ostomy journals.

Laurent O. Chabal

Denise is an accomplished health care professional with four decades of nursing experience including 15 years at an hospital executive level. She has been both a Clinical Specialist and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the specialties of wound, stoma and continence (WSC) nursing. She was the director of a colorectal clinical program, founder and director of a national WSC education program, and a university Senior Lecturer. Her research and publication interests are within her specialty and in advancing the practice of nursing. She was inducted as a Fellow of the Saudi Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery (FSSCRS) and an Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (hon-FASCRS). Denise sits on the several journal Editorial Boards.

Denise Hibbert

Jenny has over 51 years experience in clinical nursing, stomal therapy, wound management, education, research, academia and administrative roles in hospital, community and aged care sectors in Australia and New Zealand. Jenny was the Chair of the first national Australian Conference on wound management during which she chaired a meeting leading to the establishment of the Australian Wound Management Association, now Wounds Australia. Jenny was the Founding Editor in 1993 of Primary Intention, the Australian Journal of Wound Management now Wound Practice and Research. Jenny was an inaugural Fellow and past President of Wounds Australia. Jenny is the Editor of WCET™ Journal, the Australia/New Zealand Director of the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel, and served on the subgroup that adapted the 2019 International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) Guidelines on the Prevention and Management of Diabetic Foot Disease to the Australian context. 

Dr Jenny Prentice

Joaquim is an accomplished colorectal surgeon and Chair of the ISUCRS Education Committee. He has completed post graduation qualifications in coloproctology. He is the Director of Department of General Surgery, Braga Hospital, Director of Colorectal Unity, Braga Hospital and Director of Reference Centre for Rectal Cancer, Braga Hospital.

Dr Joaquim Costa Pereira

Joseph is an internationally recognised and highly experienced colorectal surgeon at Cleveland Clinic London, with special expertise in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders, and advanced proctology. He holds fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has pursued advanced laparoscopic surgery training at the Mayo Clinic and specialised colorectal disease training at the University of Southern California. Simultaneously, he completed a Master’s degree in Legal Aspects of Medical Practice from Cardiff University. Since 2008, he has served at King’s College Hospital as a colorectal surgeon and head of the colorectal surgery department, overseeing the colorectal cancer multidisciplinary team and anorectal physiology laboratory. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, and is a passionate contributor to contributing to postgraduate education and research.

Julie is an inspirational patient representative who brings her personal perspectives and passion for improving the lives of people with a stoma to the team.

Richard McNair

Richard has been an ostomate since 1995. He is a a life member of the Western Bay of Plenty Ostomy Society Inc, and previously served as President. He has been President of the Asia and South Pacific Ostomy Association from 2017 until 2020 and represents New Zealand as a delegate. Richard is also Chairman of the International Ostomy Association’s Co-ordination Committee, and a co-founder and trustee of Friends of Ostomates Worldwide New Zealand Charitable Trust.
